JOHN WIESE
NOISE NOMADS
BENJAMIN NELSON
EMBOUCHURE

JOHN WIESE is an artist and composer from Los Angeles, California. His ongoing projects include LHD and Sissy Spacek, with plenty of freelance work with many artists as diverse as Sunn O))), Wolf Eyes, Merzbow, Dave Phillips, Smegma, Kevin Drumm, Cattle Decapitation and C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core). He has toured extensively throughout the world, covering Europe, Scandinavia and Australia as a member of Sunn O))), the UK as part of the Free Noise tour (a tentet including Evan Parker, C. Spencer Yeh, Yellow Swans, etc.), the United States alongside Wolf Eyes and recently performed in the 52nd Venice Biennale with artist Nico Vascellari.

Noise Nomads
Caveman performance action/noise from western Massachusetts, NOISE NOMADS is the solo project of Jeff Hartford, also of the band Grey Skull. His recordings have appeared on Load, Gods of Tundra, Bonescraper, Breaking World Records, and a recent LP on RRRecords. Load Records describes him thusly: “Western Massachussets is a land of shopping outlets and hemp-skinned hacky sacks. Jeff Hartford breathes in and out amongst all this hub bub. What he does do is give off an organic crunch. He’s never content to just play to one schtick as it were, instead, practicing everything from christmas tree impersonation, to hand chime phasery, to all out 4-track abuse.”

BENJAMIN NELSON has performed in various groups with styles ranging from instrumental metal and power electronics to free folk and improv. His solo work seeks to bridge the gap between academics and emotional music, drawing inspiration from minimalism, electro-acoustic and post industrial music. While spending the last five years studying electronic music in Boston, Benjamin has performed solo throughout the US and Europe, but this will be his first solo performance in his hometown.

EMBOUCHURE
channels frustration, isolation and dread through their minimalist/maximalist drone compositions. Where most drones tend to revolve around healing/meditative practices, Embouchure sets out to poison and scorn. This is not easy listening. Using an arsenal of digital and analog electronics, prepared acoustic instruments, granular synthesis and feedback systems, Embouchure creates a mood of total desolation and abandon.

CHRIS COOPER
JED SPEARE, featuring Eli Keszler and Lewis Gesner
GREG KELLEY
The EPICUREANS
VIC RAWLINGS

Chris Cooper

Angst Hase Pfeffer Nase is the solo guise of avant-garde guitarist Chris Cooper, who'd previously worked around the Bay Area with "industrial bluegrass" oddballs Caroliner and adventurous indie-popsters Deerhoof. When the financially strapped Caroliner went on hiatus in the late '90s, Cooper struck out on his own, adopting the Angst Hase Pfeffer Nase alias for his experiments with prepared guitar and tape collage. The first Angst Hase Pfeffer Nase album, the obscurely titled Beatings With Gimpy Flighted Wings Entrapped by Post-Fence of Garish Land, appeared circa 2000 on the small Menlo Park label. A 7" release, "Myth of the Golden Jackal & the Frog," followed on Birdman. Cooper subsequently recorded under his own name for Kissy Records, and performed with Barn Owl and the Massachusetts-based Fat Worm of Error.

Jed Speare
Jed Speare is an artist and arts manager working in a variety of media and settings. Initially trained in music composition, he has presented performance, sound, video, installation, conceptual, and community-based works locally, nationally, and internationally in festivals and locales such as San Francisco, Amsterdam, Canada, Taiwan, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Belarus, Bulgaria, France, and Italy. In Boston, Jed has been known primarily as a member of the Mobius Artists Group since 1995 and as the Co- Director and Director of Mobius from 1996 through 2004. He is currently Director of Studio Soto, a space for ideas, in Boston. His sound works are featured on albums of Family Vineyard, Smithsonian Folkways, and Subterranean record labels.

Lewis Gesner
Lewis Gesner is an artist working predominantly but not exclusively in performance and sound mediums. He exhibits frequently in US and abroad, and has been developing systematic reductions for purposes of universal art making significance(s), using terms such as Instrumentism, Lower Consciousness, and SURformalism as an ongoing project and investigation.

Eli Keszler
"Multi-instrumentalist Eli Keszler is one of a coterie of exciting new Boston-based musicians whose music pushes the boundaries of noise, drones, improv, and electro-acoustic composition. Using a variety of percussion instruments, as well as guitar and electronics, Eli creates intense drones and fast, rhythmically complex pieces. In addition to his solo work, he currently plays in a number of ensembles including a new trio with keyboardist Anthony Coleman and reed-player/vocalist Ashl ey Paul, a duo with guitarist Geoff Mullen, and a longstanding partnership with fellow multi-instrumentalist Steve Pyne called Red Horse. H e has a pair of CDs out onREL, both of which showcase his extraordinarily dynamic playing"

Greg Kelley has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Argentina at numerous festivals, in clubs, outdoors, in living rooms, in a bank, and at least once on a vibrating floor. He has collaborated w/ a number of musicians throughout the globe performing experimental music, free jazz and noise, releasing a number of recordings in the process. He constantly seeks to push the boundaries of the trumpet and of 'music'.

The Epicureans
formed in 2008 the epicureans have the hottest new sound out there. they range from sparse 'lowercase' type music to "full on" (as the kids say these days) noise with a hardcore metal edge. at once playful and brutal, the epicureans are your best friends and your enemies worst enemy. when they say 'we love you' at the end of every show they mean it. music is all about love and the epicureans, with their thirst for seeking pleasure, are here to provide.

Vic Rawlings is active as an improviser and
instrument builder, specializing in modifications
of existing instruments, creating extensive cello
preparations. He also continually develops an
electronic instrument from extant exposed
circuitry, producing, in effect, a modular analog
synthesizer with a highly unstable interface.
This electronic instrument is paired with a
flexible array of exposed speaker elements,
chosen for their often unpredictable and
idiosyncratic acoustic qualities. TONIGHT HOWEVER, VIC WILL BE SHREDDING ON GUITAR.
