Hair Police
Working with traditional rock instrumentation as well as electronics, tape manipulation, and oscillators, Hair Police builds demonic walls of sound for a result reminiscent of Throbbing Gristle, early Black Dice, and Wolf Eyes. Hair Police formed in Lexington, KY, in January of 2001. The original lineup included Matt Minter and Ross Compton, but the group soon settled on Mike Connelly (guitar, vocals, tapes, noise), Robert Beatty (electronics), and Trevor Tremaine (drums, vocals, tapes). Soon after forming, the group released its 2001 debut, History of Ghost Dad on Gods of Tundra. Blow Out Your Blood followed on Freedomfrom in 2002, and 2003 found Hair Police in an extremely productive mode that produced Movies: Live '01-'02 (a cassette on Animal Disguise), the Mortuary Servants 7", a self-titled cassette on Hospital Productions, Probe Cutting (a cassette on Gods of Tundra), and splits with Cadaver in Drag and Viki -- the latter of which secured the band its widest distribution. In 2004 Hair Police released a new album, Obedience Cuts, as well as a split with Crystal Fantasy. The following year saw two new albums --Constantly Terrified and Drawn Dead--as well as a reissue of their self-titled album for Hospital Productions on CD.

Heathen Shame

The trio of Greg Kelley, Wayne Rogers, and Kate Village formed under the banner Heathen Shame in the fall of 1999. After a handful of one-off shows they recorded their self-titled debut LP in May of 2002, which caught them just as their sound was starting to gel. They then embarked on a three week tour of America's heartland with Double Leopards (including at least one outdoor show that could be termed a "gathering") in an attempt to share their unique brand of high decibel improvisation. Although they drove away as many people as they converted (OK, maybe a lot more than they converted), the steady gigging continued upon their return and soon the Heathen Shame were playing as one mind rather than three. Speed The Parting Guest is a carefully paced but blazing affair that shows how seamless a unit they've become. In contrast to the abstract feel of their debut, Speed The Parting Guest finds them swinging large blocks of sound around their heads for hours before launching them at you. Their wall of sound is now a sonic universe that they can manipulate with slow malice or lightning precision. Heathen Shame are destined to be THE most talked about two-guitar-and-trumpet combo of 2005 and beyond.

Craniopagus

“Anyone interested in extremely rough and harsh PE/noise should pay atttention to this Craniopagus release. Reminding of extreme force and grit of early Mauthausen Orchestra but with the vocal delivery of newer american power electronics stress. The sound is rough and ear splitting in an analog that makes you cringe. Sounds more like live loud recording than bedroom work. Another excellent element is the chocie to break down the work into actual tracks....giving it an older feeling and keeping the pace moving with sutble changes in tone and atmospehre with each track. “ - Dominick Fernow Hospital Productions on the Fetu in Fetus release
